Reams of information about releases and remixes you never caught up on, the fact that this guy has a decade-deep discography, runs his own dope little label and has releasEd Bangers under multiple aliases.

San Francisco's Brendan Angelides is that guy. Luckily his latest release on Warp "Lands & Bones" that feature's LA's chanteuse Swan (split with EPROM's "Hendt") is the gift that keeps giving, bringing his lush, bass heavy electronica as Eskmo (check out his sublime work as Welder) to the forefront. Deeper, bong hit, late night vibes to EPROM's laser club bangers. While you're at it there's his releases on Vertical Sound and Planet Mu, his Bibio remixes for Warp, a Brainfeeder mixtape and his Ancestor Media label too.

WHATS…
...so special about you, then?
Ummm.

... three inspirations to make music?
Little siblings, nature and alchemy.

…the last film you saw?
Actually, Avatar.

...the best piece of advice you've heard?
What you focus on gets bigger.

...better, dusk or dawn?
Dusk is pretty cool.

...the world coming to?
According to a friend a transcedental epoch.

...the name of your hero?
I don't have a specific one but Tom Waits comes to mind.

...so special about your hero?
Just all around true badass artist. Has grown throughout his career and process. That's all you can ask.

...your worst fashion secret?
I've got toe holes in 40% of my socks.

...at the top of your shit list?
I haven't spent the time making a shit list yet.

How would you describe your work?
Living.

Original Press from DazedDigital.com

Evening of Live Bass Music feature ESKMO..

The Dark Room
Surefire Productions Presents:
An Evening Of Live Bass Music
(No DJ’s – All Live Sets)

Featuring:
SHACKLETON (World Tour – SF Debut)
ESKMO & EPROM
(Warp Split 12" West Coast Release Party)
KUSH ARORA

On Sunday March 7th, Surefire Productions proudly presents "an evening of live bass music" featuring the SF debut of Skull Disco co-founder and dubstep pioneer Shackleton. Shackleton is supporting his debut album Three EPs, released in late 2009 on the revered Perlon imprint. Alongside Shackleton is SF's fast rising producers Eskmo (Brendan Angelides) and EPROM (Sander Dennis) who are both making waves with their recent releases individually on Planet Mu and Surefire. Tonight they will be celebrating the release of their split 12" record "Hendt" (EPROM) b/w "Lands and Bones" Feat. Swan (Eskmo), coming out on the legendary Warp Records. Rounding out the night is the prolific SF "dread bass" producer Kush Arora, who released two critically acclaimed albums in 2009 (Dread Bass Chronicles, Boiling Over).

BLEEP: Click here to Listen or Buy "Lands and Bones" now!

11Spot: Click here to Listen or Buy "Lands and Bones" NOW!

Shackleton's maverick take on big bass lines and complex beats doesn't fit easily into categories and that's how it's going to stay. Shackleton has been carving out his own brand of eclecticism on Skull Disco releases with intricate, snaking percussion, hypnotic melodies, seriously deep bass lines and dubwise sensibilities. His unique take on bass music makes his tunes feel right at home from a dub techno set to dubstep. There's no wonder why The Wire magazine stated, "Shackleton's bass drops are huge, shoomping bolts of leaden mass - neither in tune nor out of it, they are simple…omnipresent." Shackleton's tunes can be found on the compilations Skull Disco Volume 1 and Skull Disco Volume 2, released in the U.S. by Rough Trade Records. SF is the last stop on Shackleton's debut World Tour. Catch this rare performance, because it's not often that the illusively talented artist gets out of the studio long enough to do a world tour.

Brendan Angelides is a San Francisco based electronic music producer who records and performs live as Eskmo. In the past five years he's released over a dozen singles and EPs while touring throughout North America and Europe. Angelides also runs the Ancestor label, which issued his "Hypercolor" and "Agnus Dei" singles in 2009 to positive reviews from numerous magazines, blogs and tastemakers. Ninja Tune recording artist and film composer Amon Tobin hailed his work as "some of the best production I've heard in recent times." Although club and radio DJs readily spin his music, Angelides always performs his Eskmo and Welder work live. His innovative, emotive on-stage performances utilize Ableton Live software with various MIDI controllers to manipulate keyboard work, effects, warping and cuing. Full bio can be found here: www.eskmo.com/bio.html

EPROM is known for his diverse, funky and energetic sets, which cross the lines between live remixing and manipulation of hiphop and dubstep with his own obscenely bass-heavy neurocrunk transmissions. EPROM has played alongside artists like Flying Lotus, The Glitch Mob, Skream, Lazer Sword, Kode9, Mochipet, Rustie, and many others. He has worked with internationally renowned MCs and has slated multiple vinyl releases in the coming year. DJ supporters include Starkey, Jakes, Bassnectar, The Glitch Mob, Rustie, Megasoid, Zombie Disco Squad, Riton, Basement Jaxx, and BBC Radio One’s Mary Anne Hobbs.

Kush Arora's name has become synonymous with the term "dread bass." Dread bass is the sound of a post-dancehall world where MCs are confronted with the latest in cultural-styled electronic riddims. Kush Arora has seen the dread bass sound evolve for the past ten years, and has solidified his spot in the dub community, with his signature style of Punjabi roots combined with a curious case for punk and industrial sounds. Kush is constantly collaborating with MCs and vocalists from around the world who bring a dangerous, yet insightful feel to his music.

Media Inquiries: Contact Ryan Romana at ryan@surefireagency.com

About Surefire Productions

Formed in 2006, Surefire Productions is a full service music group whose mission is to bring bass and other forms of electronic music to a discerning public. In the 3 years since he first appeared at Dub War, Shackleton has transcended his UK dubstep roots to reach deeper into the soul of Berlin's techno scene. In the process he has transformed his live set into a uniquely mesmerizing voodoo science. Two San Francisco-based producers - Eskmo and Eprom - make their Dub War debut as they celebrate a split 12" release on the mighty Warp Records.

Friday, February 19
DUB WAR
featuring
SHACKLETON (Skull Disco)
ESKMO + EPROM (Warp Records Release Party)
+ Joe Nice, Dave Q, Incyde, Juakali

Cost:
$10 advance tix and door before midnight
$15 door after midnight
21+ (bring ID)
Buy advance tix at http://www.musicislove.net

Location:
LOVE
179 Macdougal St, @ 8th St NYC
Subway: A,C,E,B,D,F,V to West 4th St

10pm - late
$10 advance tix and door before midnight / $15 after midnight
21+ (bring ID)
Buy advance tix at http://www.musicislove.net

Eskmo Live at Acess Lounge in Texas

Bay Area Dubstep Producer "Eskmo" performs his hit track "Angus Dei" live at Aces Lounge in Austin, Texas on January 21, 2010...

ESKMO featured on Amon Tobin

Every month Amon Tobin highlights a new featured artist - and have a free MP3 download for you. In the past five years he’s released over a dozen singles and EPs while touring throughout North America and Europe. Angelides also runs the Ancestor label, which issued his "Hypercolor" and "Angus Dei" singles in 2009 to positive reviews from numerous magazines, blogs and tastemakers.

In the past two years his multi-genre compositions have been featured on influential labels like Warp Records and Planet Mu. He's also remixed works by diverse artists such as Bibio, Spor, STS9, and Bar9, to name a few. While Angelides' tracks encompass a wide range of electronic styles, he avoids classifications.
Bleep.com described his tracks as "Masterfully produced... sophisticated, post-Dilla hip-hop funk".

His latest single "Let Them Sing" on Planet Mu was met with equal praise and described by sites like Boomkat as "[Putting] Eskmo on his own electronic plateau."

"Dark, moody and quite magnificent… twisted, funky …Prepare to have your ears cranked open by Eskmo's innovative individualism." founder, Brendan Angelides (a.k.a. Eskmo). Angelides takes us to the top of his playlist, obsesses over Les Claypool, eats his way through San Francisco, and receives an odd conical gift from fans. Look for Eskmo's split 12-inch with Eprom, out in early 2010 on Warp.

XLR8R: What's the weirdest story you have ever heard about yourself?
Brendan Angelides: Having someone personally tell me about an amazing set I did at an event I never played at.

What are the top three most played songs on your iTunes?
The National "Brainy"
Mew "Why Are You Looking Grave?"
Aphex Twin "Blue Calx"

What band did you want to be in when you were 15?
Primus. Some songs definitely have a specific tone in mind, while others blend a few of them. Better that way (in my own opinion).

For what sorts of things did you always get in trouble when you were little?
Drawing in class; not paying attention; jumping off the swings; sneaking in extra minutes of Nintendo at home.

If someone were to translate your most recent album into a painting, would it fall most closely under cubism, surrealism, impressionism, expressionism, or realism?

Surrealism and Expressionism combined.

What was the last movie you saw?

Goodbye Solo. Great flick!

Complete this sentence: In the future...
There will be holographic movie theaters.

Best decision you've made in the last year?
I couldn't even say honestly. It's all good.

What's next?
My first single on Warp is coming out in early 2010, with my friend Swan doing vocals. On the A side is my good friend EPROM. Very soon a new mix of mine--I usually do one a year--is being featured on Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder site. [I'm] finishing up some music with Amon Tobin. Some more tour dates are being planned in the states and Europe.
